About
Houston's Boomtown Brass Band is steeped in the tradition of authentic 1920s hot jazz. The Boomtown sound is based on the classic New Orleans jazz style, featuring the interplay of cornet, clarinet, trombone, banjo, tuba, washboard percussion and vocals.
Boomtown is proud to be Houston's only dedicated "trad" jazz band, citing among its influences: Louis Armstrong's Hot Five and Hot Seven groups, Joe "King" Oliver, New Orleans Rhythm Kings, Bix Beiderbecke, and Jabbo Smith, to name a few.
